Cast Iron

Most of the iron we conserve comes from 19th century cast iron fountains. One exception was our conservation of the plated and coated ornamental ironwork in the Law Library of the Old Executive Office Building, a special White House project represented elsewhere. Because so many 19th century cast iron fountains have been greatly neglected (often filled with soil and turned into planters), the work we have to perform is often quite extensive.
